About the event
Join Doctor of Physical Therapy, Mallory Berschauer, from Mission Peak Physical Therapy in Wenatchee to learn more about the pelvic floor and surrounding core muscles. The pelvic floor is part of a group of muscles often referred to as the "inner core" which also includes abdominal muscles. These inner core muscles have several important functions including reducing low back and pelvic pain, improving posture, preventing bladder leakage, supporting pelvic organs, improving balance, reducing risk of injury with sports and recreational activities, and assisting in breathing.
Although we know these muscles are important, if often can be difficult to determine if we are using these muscles correctly during our daily activities and during exercise.
This workshop will provide instruction on how to properly activate these muscles and how to self-monitor for correct use of these muscles during various exercises including Pilates exercises.
